Pool / Surf / Tri Squads
At Caloundra Aquatic Lifestyle Centre we have developed both pool and surf programs that cater for age and open level swimmers. This sets us apart from most as we have access to the resources of the QAS and have networks with Australia’s leading coaches and sports conditioners. These networks are established through reputation and are a testament to the program.
Benefits of Pool Training
Pool training will provide each athlete with significant aerobic conditioning and an increase in flexibility and muscular endurance. Whether you are a surf swimmer, sprinter or distance swimmer, the programs here at Caloundra Aquatic Lifestyle Centre will combine both dryland core strength and stretching programs to assist you in attaining your training goals.
Silver and Gold Squads do core and flexibility sessions. Swimmers 12 years & over can join the gym and will be given basic strength and conditioning sessions. For more personal sessions with a gym instructor, small classes of 1, 2, 3, or 4 can be arranged (enquire at gym). For your core and flexibility sessions, please talk to your coach.
Snack prior to training (fruit/jam sandwich/etc) and ensure that you are well hydrated. Your coach will have land exercises to perform before commencing swimming.
During Training and After Training
During training, hydrate with water. For swimmers training longer than 90 minutes, use electrolyte drinks. After training, snack, hydrate, and stretch program.

The squads at Caloundra Aquatic Lifestyle Centre are broken into six groups. To progress through the levels, there are certain requirements each swimmer must meet.
